Apart from Berliner (jam stuffed) which is German´s answer to Doughnuts, this Quarkballen also reminded me of those munchkins from Dunkin but are much more simplified without any fillings. Its made of Quark or Curd in English with basic pastry ingredients, deep fried and later, coated with sugar sprinkles.
The texture is soft, moist, with a hint of saltiness from the curd and its outer layer, nicely sweeten.
